How do I know If I need mummmy MOT?

A woman’s body goes through massive physical and hormonal changes during and after pregnancy. These changes can have a significant impact on muscles and ligaments. Most women therefore experience weakness in abdominal and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and delivery. More than 50% of women complain of back and pelvic pain, incontinence, tummy gap (diastasis recti) and more following pregnancy and birthing.

If you experience any of these symptoms then you should seek help from one of our Women’s Health specialist physiotherapists.
Women who experience no adverse symptoms following the birth of their babies can also benefit from a professional postnatal assessment to ensure everything is healing as it should and to help you regain your confidence in yourself and in returning to fitness after giving birth.

What do I need to bring at the appointment?

Mummy MOT includes an internal pelvic examination. You will be required to remove the bottom half of your clothing for an assessment. Please wear comfortable clothing.
You will be asked to sign a consent form or give a verbal agreement before the examination takes place. You may be accompanied by your partner or relative for the session.
